Some directors spend hundreds of millions of dollars to create special effects that will blow your mind away. But this is no assurance that a film will succeed. A shiny example of this is G.I. Joe. Filled to the brink with special effects, and not all of them convincing, and the movie still is nothing but a pile of smelly shit (at least Transformers: Rise of the Fallen was fun to watch.)

And there are those people like Fede Alvarez from Uruguay who are able to make something like this for a mere 300 dollars. So far it has gotten him deal with Ghost House Pictures to direct a yet unknown film which will be produced by Sam Raimi. Chew on that Stephen Sommers!
