Movie review: Watchmen

Seen Watchmen yesterday. Loved it. I read up on the comics first so I would know what I could expect. All I can say is that Jack Snyder made a movie that stays true to the subject without ever getting ridiculous. The story has been kept intact with some adjustments to fit the media of the big screen and the maximum amount of screen time without getting tedious. Beautifully shot and enhanced with a great soundtrack containing classics by Dylan, Hendrix, Simon and Garfunkel and more. It also pleased me Snyder didn’t try to tone down the violence or sex. Like the comic this is a raw and bleak view on a time that could have been. And this movie is more than just a comic hero movie; it also gives us a grim view on a political climate that even now is oh so very familiar. Watchmen is the second film after V for Vendetta that not just tells a great story but also gives us a message that comes closer to the reality we know than we actually want it to be.
